Adae and Akwasidae – These festival takes place in Kumasi, in the Ashanti Region, and it brings to life the pomp and the pageantry of the Ashanti Kingdom. Sometimes, even the king comes out to receive homage from sub-chiefs.

Edina Bronya – This one takes place in Elmina, Central Region, and it is a Ghanaian version of Christmas, exclusively celebrated by Elmina’s people. It is a festival of purification, sacrifices to the gods and welcoming of the New Year.

Apoo – Celebrated in Techiman, Wenchi, this too is a festival of purification to allow people to get rid of their social evil. It lasts 13 days and it is filled with cultural activities and family reunions.

Dipo – It takes place in Krobo Odumase, Eastern Region, and it is a puberty festival, during which teenage girls are initiated to woman-hood.

Aboakyer – It happens in Winneba and it is also known as Antelope Hunting. It is a very exciting festival, one of the most famous in the country. A true lifetime experience, it involves two warrior groups and the catching of an antelope.

Nkyidwo – This too is a very important festival and it is celebrated in Essumeja every year. People commemorate their births and invoke their ancestors. Gods are asked for blessing and prosperity.

Aferonto – Celebrated annually in Mepe, during this festival people celebrate their lives, their friendships and partnerships and they pay honour to their ancestors.
